Day Excursions outside Boston
We visit the north coast
of Boston, area taken by the Puritans at the beginning of the 17th
century. It includes
Marblehead,
which offers some picturesque scenarios and typical of that region where the
first Navy of the United States was formed.
Salem,
historic town. Being the first maritime port of North America connecting with
the Old Continent. In
Gloucester
we visit the statue of the fisherman, built in memory of the 10.000 fishermen
that never returned from the sea. Rockport, place most know by
painting artists of the country and interested visitors in antiques. (Ideal
place for a fresh lobster lunch).
Newport;
is synonym for luxury with their mansions of the historic time constructed in
the last century by multimillionaire families Vanderbilt Hunter and King. Like
“The Breakers” and “The Elms”, you see the Victorian style in its splendor.
The Tennis Hall of fame is the only place in the world that has such a
collection for the white sport game lovers. Newport also offers a Jazz
Festival, as a tradition every summer. We also drive around the 10-mile road
that borders the port of Newport, where the natal home of Jacqueline
Bouvier
is found and other mansions of interest.
Here we visit a
small puritan village where they held on to time and the style of life in the
beginning of the 19th century in Massachusetts. (Included entrance to the
museums).
Here we visit
the town of Provincetown (favorite place for the beaches), Hyannis port
(Kennedy’s residence) and Sandwich (where the oldest crystal museum is
located).
This trip
requires a very extensive number of hours, overnight is advised. We stop at
Edgartown with its architectural to whaling’s golden years and visit
the clay cliffs and natural beauty of Gay Head. Transportation by ferry is
imperative.
